Why is the FineGrid Pestemal so special?
Slow production
FineGrid offers only the finest Peshtemals, slowly produced in small batches by local artisans in the Aegean region.
Hand-woven
FineGrid Peshtemal are hand-woven using traditional techniques that not only enhance their quality but also give them a unique texture that adds to their appeal. The carefully selected colors and patterns make FineGrid Peshtemals a stylish and practical choice for a wide variety of uses.
Why should I use a pestemal?
A pestemal is a traditional type of towel used in Turkey. It is typically made from cotton or a cotton-linen blend, woven in a flat and lightweight style with a distinctive texture. Unlike the thick terrycloth that is common in many places, pestemals are thinner, often feature stripes or subtle patterns, and are finished with hand-knotted fringe.
Dries quickly
Their lightweight and thin structure allows them to dry much faster than traditional towels, making them practical for use when traveling, on beach trips, or in humid environments where mold or mildew growth can be a problem.
Compact and easy to carry
They take up less space than bulky towels, can be easily folded into a small size, perfect for packing in a suitcase, gym bag, or beach bag.
Highly absorbent
Despite their thin structure, Peshtemals are surprisingly absorbent because cotton (usually extra-long staple cotton) effectively absorbs water thanks to its long fibers.
Multi-purpose
In addition to their easy installation, their stylish designs and soft textures allow them to be used as sarongs, picnic blankets, scarves, throws, and even shawls.
Softer with use
Unlike some towels that wear out or become stiff, these become softer and more absorbent with each wash.
Environmentally friendly
Made from natural fibers and requiring less water and energy to produce or wash compared to thicker towels, these towels are a sustainable choice.
